Hi Meredith,

I hadn’t seen this until now, so please accept my apologies for the tardy response time.

I think that every now and then, we read between the lines — even when there’s nothing further to read. I also think I/we, as human beings, have various unconcsious biases that we find difficult to recognise.

We (Bianca and I) completely appreciate what you’re saying, and think that what (we beleive) you’re trying to say about diversity is absolutely critical (and also recognise the global issue that it is). However, in the context of the piece you’ve read, and taken the time to comment on, you’ve made an interpretation/assumption that isn’t even closely aligned to the core message.

We genuinely hope you do not, even for a second, think we’re discounting your opinion or comments. We are saying that your interpretation of the article, or the hidden message you reference within the article, is not the result of a deliberate attempt to paint a picture of “young white hipster men”, as you put it.

We’d be more than happy to have a direct discussion, talk through the process we’ve documented and also talk through the opinion you’ve framed based on reading this content (and viewing the diagrams we’ve used). Perhaps if we deepen our understanding of the interpretation you’ve articulated, we can ensure weconsciously factor it into further examples so that similar interpreations arent raised again.

Please feel free to get in touch and thanks again for taking the time to read, respond, and highlight what you have.

Nathan and Bianca
