Really great post. Thanks for sharing. I wrote about this for InVision (http://blog.invisionapp.com/design-for-the-5-senses/) recently. My hypothesis is basically that outdated business models (not in all cases, but in many) drive companies to design experiences that maximise screen time.
My opinion is that digital experiences should be designed to support real life outcomes. Therefore screen time minimization should be the goal. Business models of course need to evolve so that design efforts are incentivised to achieve this human outcome.
What role do you think current commercial models have on the issues you’ve highlighted above?
