Hey Chris, this is a useful intro post that deliberately raises many more questions than it seeks to answer. My work focuses almost exclusively on data trust. A lot of this work is currently focused on existing ways of doing things (think banking, telco, gov etc.). However, something I find quite interesting is that we (the peeps trying to bring these new, person-centric experiences to life) need to find real, compelling reasons for people to switch (i.e. change their behaviour and ‘trust’ in a new way of doing things). We’re clearly yet to do that at any meaningful scale.

I’d be interested to hear your thoughts on the way you design for adoption pathways? Consensus based approaches may decrease our need to trust in a centralised authority within a given context, however we do need to trust in a variety of things that we’re yet to collectively place our trust in. This is a massive challenge and something that needs to be tackled effectively if distributed models are to become the new normal over time.

Looking forward to chatting.
